Emergency roof repair in Peterborough

Water coming through the ceiling or tiles off after a storm? We do our best to attend emergencies the same day, make the roof watertight, then carry out a proper permanent repair.

What we do

Make it safe now, fix it properly next

Same-day emergency attendance wherever we can, Monday to Saturday, across Peterborough and up to 40 miles around.

Same-day where possible

Active leaks and dangerous loose tiles go to the front of our schedule. We aim to attend the same day.

Temporary make-safe

Heavy-duty sheeting, temporary tile replacement or sealing to stop water getting in until the permanent repair.

Loose tiles & ridges

Dangerous loose tiles, ridges and chimney pots secured or removed so they cannot fall.

Active leaks

The entry point found and sealed, and gutters or outlets cleared if they are backing up.

Evidence for insurers

Dated photos before and after the make-safe, and receipts, which insurers ask for.

Permanent repair

Once safe, a fixed price for the permanent repair, carried out to BS 5534.

Expert guide

What to do right now if your roof is leaking

  1. Stay safe. Do not go on the roof or up a ladder in wind or rain. Keep people away from any area below loose tiles or a damaged chimney.
  2. Protect the electrics. If water is near light fittings or sockets, switch off the circuit at the consumer unit and do not touch wet fittings.
  3. Contain the water. Put buckets and towels under drips and move furniture and valuables. If a ceiling is bulging with water, keep clear and call us.
  4. Take photos of the damage inside and, safely from the ground, outside.
  5. Call your insurer’s emergency line if the damage was sudden. Which? advises contacting your insurer as soon as possible and keeping receipts for emergency repairs.
  6. Call us on 0800 193 9030 or send a WhatsApp with photos, so we can assess how urgent it is before we arrive.

Beware of doorstep roofers

After storms, cold callers often knock on doors offering to fix roofs on the spot. Cambridgeshire Police have warned Peterborough residents about rogue roofers. In one reported case, a man in his 80s paid £350 for work that was never finished and was left with a hole in his roof. Always use a roofer with a real address, insurance and written quotes, and never pay in full upfront.

FAQs

Emergency roof repair: your questions answered

Can't see your question? Call 0800 193 9030 or send us a message.

Do you offer emergency roof repairs in Peterborough?

Yes. We do our best to attend roof emergencies the same day, Monday to Saturday, across Peterborough and up to 40 miles around. Call 0800 193 9030 or WhatsApp us with photos. We are not a 24-hour service, but messages sent out of hours are answered first thing the next working morning.

Are you a 24-hour emergency roofer?

No. We work Monday to Friday 7:30–19:00 and Saturday 8:00–16:00, and aim for same-day attendance within those hours. If water is coming in at night, contain it, switch off electrics near the leak, call your insurer’s 24-hour line and message us so we can attend first thing.

How much does an emergency roof repair cost?

A temporary make-safe usually costs £170–£400, depending on access and the size of the area. The permanent repair is priced separately, with a fixed written quote once the roof is safe.

What should I do if my roof is leaking in heavy rain?

Do not go on the roof. Contain the water with buckets and towels, switch off electrics near the leak, move valuables, photograph the damage and call a roofer. Call your insurer if the damage was sudden.

Can a roof be repaired in the rain?

A temporary make-safe can often be done in rain if it is safe. Permanent repairs, especially lead and sealing work, need a dry spell. We never put our team at risk in high winds.

Will my insurance pay for an emergency roof repair?

If the damage was caused by a sudden event such as a storm, most buildings policies cover reasonable emergency repairs to prevent further damage. Keep photos and receipts, and tell your insurer as soon as possible.

Is a tarpaulin on a roof a good temporary fix?

Yes, if it is properly secured and weighted so wind cannot lift it. A badly fixed tarpaulin can blow off and cause more damage. It is a short-term measure until the permanent repair.

How do I know a roofer is genuine after a storm?

Use a roofer with a real business address, insurance and written quotes. Be wary of cold callers, pressure to decide on the spot and requests for full payment upfront.
